What is Wicca?

 

Wicca is a religion of witchcraft and a nature religion. The word Wicca itself is derived from the Anglo-Saxon word Wicce (a witch). A witch is a magick-maker and witches worship the great Mother Goddess. We also worship the Horned God. Witchcraft is a pre-Christian religion originating in the mists of time. Wicca involves the development of magickal psychic powers. To become part of the Wicca religion you can be any sex, males are called witches the same as females because that is what you are practicing 'witchcraft'. Magick is the movement of energy, or other forces, moved by will, concentration, and visualization, to create neccessary changes in one's environment. To be able to controll these energys you use your mind, some witches use tools to help them focus or to magnify their concentration. Magick should not be used selfishly or to harm anyone. Anyone can do magick, but a wise Witch will know when to do magick to accomplish a task and when to leave magick out of a task. Magick is practiced for positive purposes, spiritual and psychic development, healing, to attune with the forces of nature or to make you feel better yourself in some way. Rituals usually are performed at the New and Full Moons, and at eight Sabbat festivals which mark the wheel of the year and the changing of the seasons, although you can do magick and rituals every day if you wishes.
