Below are a list of tools. I have listed coorespondences with them, and which ones do what. I hope you find it Interesting. But, I ask you to remember that not all of these are neccessary to perform Magick....in fact, none of them really are. They are merely tools to focus and help to direct and absorb energies for you. Everything they can do..you can do better. And they possess no power whatsoever. The power is within you! They only have the power that you give them. And keep this in mind..

Wand: The wand has two different elemntal correspondences...according to the material they are made with. If they are made of wood, clay, or something similar...they correspond to the element of air. If it is made of gold, crystal, metal, or something like that...then it corresponds to the element of fire. The wand is used to focus energy. Such as...you could use the wand when you open your circle, or to mix the contents of a couldron, or to infuse a certain item with energy. Many wiccans use the wand when they are invoking certain spirits, by holding it up in the air and waving it around in a fashion they choose. Good types of wood to use are: Holly, Hazel, Willow, Birch, and Apple. But most traditional ones are made of hazel. You can decorate your wand however you wish..by carving your own symbols into it..or lining it with gems. Another thing I suggest is to place a quartz crystal on the tip to help amplify your energy.

Athame: The athame corresponds to the element of fire. Its uses are to direct and/or absorb energy. Most wiccans use it to open the circle, and direct energy to charge a specific object. The Athame is never used for cutting purposes. It is used only in ritual and in the sacred circle. Using it as a regular knife could infuse it with negative energy, which will give you difficulty when you are trying to use it. The Athame is normally around 10 inches long...and the handle is of a dark color (like black or just a tarnished silver).

Bolline: This tool is used for cutting purposes in the ritual, unlike the athame which is only used for directing and absorbing energy. It should be about 5 - 6 inches long (not as long as the athame) . This is not a very neccessary tool to me.

Sword: Most wiccans use the sword to invoke certain deities or spirits...but I find htis to be big, heavy, and inconvienient. Some wiccans say that the sword corresponds to the element of air..some say fire.

Couldron: The couldron corresponds to the element of water, and is used in most full moon rituals. The couldron is mortly made of iron..and any size will suffice! Most wiccans use the couldron to mix potions and brews and is the center of attention in full moon rituals.

Chalice: One of the least used tools...it corresponds to the element of water. It can be as big as you wish, and made of most any substance. Most wiccans use the chalice to hold certain potions they will be drinking during the ritual..and if a potion is not needed..then I suggest plaing wine in it. To drink when the rite is over...or to leave as an offering.

Broom: The broom doesnt correspond to any specific element, but it is used in some rain magick. The broom handle should be made of birch and the bristles of willow (this is my personal one....use what you will....). Most wiccans use the broom to cleanse the area of a circle before it is opened and the ritual begins. I have also heard of it being used to stir the contents of a couldron..but...I find this to make quite a mess!

Book of Shadows: The most important of "tools" ( I do not really find it to be a tool...more like a neccessity.) One of the few tools I say you need to have. It is used to store all of a witch's spells, rituals, potions and such. It is also somewhat of a journal for some wiccans. This is normally hand written (although I keep mine on my computer) and is the center of attention in rites and spells.

Censer: Another important tool! The censer (or incense burner) corresponds to the element of air. I use incense in most of my rites and I strongly suggest you do the same...it helps out and is relatively inexspensive.

Candles: The candles are used to perform candle Magick, invoke spirits and deities, and cast the circle. Not only will these help out in focusing your energy..they will also set a perfect 'mood' for you to perform Magick.

Herbs: I love to use herbs! They themselves hold power within..so they add power and energy to your spells without depleteing you! most use them as incense and for potions.
